Angra clarifies distance from former members' political comments
The heavy metal band Angra issued a formal statement clarifying that it has no involvement with recent political comments made by former members. The clarification follows social media controversy involving Eduarda Campopiano, a newly elected state deputy for the Liberal Party (PL) in São Paulo.
The dispute began after a photo surfaced of Campopiano wearing an Angra t-shirt. Former drummer Marco Antunes posted aggressive criticisms of the politician on social media. Additionally, guitarist Kiko Loureiro, who left the band in 2015 but remains a partner, was accused of leaving a disparaging comment on the same post. Loureiro has denied making the comment, though the individual who posted the photo claims the comment was deleted after a threat of legal action.
In its official note, Angra emphasized that the opinions expressed by former members are strictly personal and do not represent the band or its current members. The group also criticized media outlets for inaccurately associating these individual manifestations with the band itself.
