Angra dos Reis police arrest suspect in double stabbing

Police in Angra dos Reis have arrested 39-year-old Bruno Carlos Gama da Silva for murder and attempted murder. The crimes, reportedly motivated by a R$ 20 debt related to drug consumption, occurred in the Areal neighborhood on Sunday.

Investigators state that Silva chased 32-year-old Leandro de Oliveira da Silva through public streets and stabbed him in the back, leaving the victim no chance to defend himself. While fleeing the scene, the suspect also stabbed a 52-year-old man in the neck. The second victim was rescued and taken to a local health unit.

Silva was apprehended in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, following a joint operation between the Civil Police of Angra dos Reis and military police. Although the suspect claimed self-defense, alleging the first victim was armed, authorities found no evidence to support this claim. The knives used in the attacks were seized by police.
