Angra members explain short hiatus and lineup changes

Members of the Brazilian metal band Angra, bassist Felipe Andreoli and guitarist Marcelo Barbosa, have clarified the reasons behind the group's recent hiatus and its unexpectedly rapid conclusion. While the band initially announced a sabbatical starting in August 2025 following the 'Temple of Shadows' 20th anniversary tour, the break lasted less than a year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Brasil, Andreoli explained that the hiatus was intended for rest and reorganization, but also served as a critical period to address internal tensions. He specifically noted that the pause was an attempt to find common ground and maintain the band's relationship with vocalist Fabio Lione, rather than a move to remove him.

Ultimately, the attempt to resolve these issues did not succeed, leading to a change in lineup. Fabio Lione performed his final show with the band at the Bangers Open Air festival in April 2026, after which Alírio Netto assumed vocal duties. The band has since returned to performing, including plans for a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album 'Holy Land'.
