Anguiano Livestock Fair promotes extensive farming in La Rioja

The Anguiano Livestock Fair recently brought together approximately 400 head of cattle, including bovine, equine, and caprine livestock, to promote extensive livestock farming in the Najerilla region. Organized by the ‘Las Cuevas’ Breeders Association, the event aims to recover local traditions and cultural heritage.

The Government of La Rioja provided 6,151.8 euros in support for the fair through aid lines dedicated to promoting agri-food products and livestock events. During the event, five buffaloes were exhibited as part of a local project to adapt the animals for mozzarella production.

In addition to animal sales and exhibitions, the fair featured sheepdog demonstrations, an artisan market, horse riding, and traditional food tastings. The program also included a tribute to retired livestock farmers and activities designed to introduce younger generations to traditional mountain trades.
