Angus & Julia Stone announce new album ‘Karaoke Bar’

Australian sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone are releasing their seventh studio album, titled ‘Karaoke Bar’. The project marks a stylistic shift from their previous folk and blues roots toward a sound influenced by 1980s aesthetics.

The album incorporates increased electronic elements, including electric guitar riffs, synthesizer lines, and vocoder effects. Some tracks utilize lo-fi vocal effects to create a retro atmosphere. The songwriting and production were inspired by the duo's global travels, with the title track specifically written on the Greek island of Hydra.

While maintaining their signature vocal harmonies, the new material explores genres ranging from indie-folk to synth-pop, drawing comparisons to artists such as Tame Impala and The 1975.
