Angus Osborne acquitted of Waratah West shooting

Angus Osborne, 22, has been acquitted of shooting a man in the neck during a dispute in Waratah West last year. Although the 36-year-old victim identified Osborne as the gunman, a jury deliberated for approximately 90 minutes before rejecting the identification evidence.

The shooting occurred on January 24 in a driveway on Cooksey Close following an argument regarding a car sale. The victim reported being shot in the neck, with the bullet lodging in his throat.

While acquitted of the shooting, Osborne was found guilty of possessing the shortened rifle used in the incident. The weapon was discovered the following day in a car at Wallsend, inside a Gucci satchel bag. Osborne remains in custody and is awaiting sentencing in November.
