Angus Spring Week showcases cattle genetics in Argentina
The 47th edition of the Angus Spring Week took place at the Angus Auction and Exhibition Center in Cañuelas, Buenos Aires. The event featured approximately 300 registered breeders from 60 ranches and included the 26th Angus Calf Exhibition.
Martín Sieber, the Director of Animal Production for Entre Ríos, noted the genetic significance of the breed, stating that 70 percent of animals intended for consumption in Argentina possess Angus genes or crosses. The event saw the sale of between 50,000 and 60,000 head of cattle through televised and streaming auctions.
Patricia Iglesias, coordinator of the Argentine Angus Association, highlighted the resilience and passion required in the livestock sector. She emphasized the importance of communicating the daily efforts and economic challenges involved in producing high-quality meat, noting that the industry must navigate biological timelines that are independent of political or climatic fluctuations.
