Angus Week awards top livestock honors in Cañuelas
The Spring Angus Week held at the Cañuelas Auction and Exhibition Center concluded with major awards for high-quality livestock. The title of Grand Champion Female was awarded to ‘Primavera’, a red cow from Alejandro Spinella’s Don Romeo ranch. Judge Julio Fernández noted the animal’s ideal balance of functional, productive, and beef phenotype characteristics, highlighting its genetic potential confirmed by Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) measurements.
In the heifer category, ‘Kuko’ from the La Juanita ranch was named Grand Champion Calf, recognized for being a highly productive and functional animal. The runner-up for Grand Champion Female was the La Rubeta establishment. Breeders noted that these achievements are the result of years of investment, teamwork, and embryo transfer technology, aimed at enhancing meat quality, fertility, and maternal ability for both domestic and export markets.
