AniCura advises dog owners on managing thunderstorm anxiety
Veterinary group AniCura advises dog owners to prepare for increased thunderstorm activity during the summer months. According to the Danish Meteorological Institute, approximately 85 percent of lightning and thunder occurs during the summer.
Hanne Friis, chief veterinarian at AniCura Denmark, notes that dogs often experience anxiety due to loud noises and flashes of light, which can trigger behaviors such as shaking, barking, or hiding. To mitigate this, experts recommend creating a secure environment at home and ensuring the owner's presence to provide a calming influence during storms.
