ANIESA recalls contaminated Aptamil baby milk in Angola

The National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) has issued an immediate food safety alert prohibiting the sale and consumption of specific batches of Aptamil 2 and Aptamil 3 powdered baby milk. The measure follows international scientific and sanitary warnings regarding contamination by cereulide, a harmful toxin produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus.

The recall is strictly limited to 800-gram cans and packages of Aptamil 2 and Aptamil 3 with a manufacturing date of March 2025 and an expiration date of September 21, 2026.

Following inspections of major distributors and retailers, ANIESA seized and destroyed 948.5 boxes of the affected milk at the Mulenvos Sanitary Landfill in Luanda. The destroyed products had an estimated market value of approximately 60.2 million Kwanzas. Collection, blocking, and removal operations are ongoing throughout the national territory. ANIESA has urged consumers, importers, and merchants to stop all commercialization of these specific batches and to report any attempts to sell them through official channels.
