Anijo Mathew installed as USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy dean

Anijo Mathew has been officially installed as the dean of the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy. During his installation ceremony at the University of Southern California's University Park Campus, Mathew expressed his commitment to transforming the 13-year-old academy into a “world-class institution.”

Mathew, a designer, entrepreneur, and educator, aims to utilize the academy as an “innovation engine” for the entire university. USC President Beong-Soo Kim noted that Mathew’s previous global work demonstrates how design can serve as a catalyst when connected with other academic fields. He intends to collaborate with other deans to advance an innovation-focused mindset across the university.

The academy’s programs integrate technology, design, and business through a project-based learning model, often leading students to commercialize startups before graduation. Mathew previously co-founded a digital design firm in Mumbai, India, and holds a master’s degree in design studies from Harvard University.
