CBI investigates aviation corruption and medical college bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched two separate corruption probes in India involving high-level officials and educational institutions.

In the aviation sector, the CBI registered a case against former Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official Captain Anil Gill and four companies: Bluethroat Aero Global Pvt. Ltd, Redbird Aviation Academy Pvt. Ltd, Sabres Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd, and Sandhills Aviation IFSC Pvt. Ltd. The investigation alleges that Gill abused his position to favor specific flying training organizations. It is claimed that aircraft were purchased at nominal prices through shell companies managed by his relatives and subsequently leased to preferred institutions at exorbitant rates to generate kickbacks.

In a separate matter, the CBI booked Pratik Mori, a trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College in Junagadh, Gujarat, and faculty member Abhay Nalawade. They are accused of offering a Rs 10 lakh bribe to a member of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) hearing committee. The alleged bribe was intended to secure a positive report regarding 13 teachers suspected of being ‘ghost’ employees who existed only on paper.
