Anil Kumar Jha of RJD wins Darbhanga MLC seat in Bihar

Anil Kumar Jha of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has won the Darbhanga graduate seat in the Bihar Legislative Council election, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sarvesh Kumar.

The election result followed an extended counting process lasting nearly 60 hours. While the BJP candidate initially held a lead through several rounds, a surge in second-preference votes during the final stages of counting allowed Jha to overturn the deficit. Jha was declared the winner with a lead of 533 votes after the 39th round of counting, which involved the elimination of 38 candidates from a total field of 40.

The victory marks a significant shift in the constituency, which had previously been held by the BJP. The RJD has raised questions regarding the delays in the counting process, while the result is viewed as a setback for the BJP in the region.
