Anil Kumble commemorates 36 years since international cricket debut
Indian cricket legend Anil Kumble marked the 36th anniversary of his international debut, which took place on August 9, 1990, against England in Manchester. Reflecting on the milestone on social media, Kumble described the start of his career as a "truly special journey."
During his debut Test match at Old Trafford, Kumble took three wickets for 105 runs, with Allan Lamb being his first international victim. Throughout his illustrious career, Kumble became India's leading wicket-taker in both Test and ODI formats. He finished with 619 Test wickets and 337 ODI wickets, totaling 953 international wickets.
Kumble is notably remembered for his historic performance against Pakistan in 1999, where he became only the second bowler in Test history to take all ten wickets in a single innings. Beyond his bowling, he achieved his sole Test century in his 117th match and later served as the head coach of the Indian national team from 2016 to 2017.
