Anima Mundi 2026 festival announces performances in Pisa

The 25th edition of the Anima Mundi festival, under the artistic direction of Trevor Pinnock, features a series of musical performances in Pisa.

On September 17, the Pisa Cathedral will host a performance of Franco Battiato’s ‘Messa Arcaica’. Directed by Guido Corti, the piece features Simone Cristicchi and mezzo-soprano Mara Gaudenzi. The work, completed in 1993, blends classical Latin texts with electronic sounds and orchestral arrangements.

On September 21, the Camposanto Monumentale will host the Orchestra Cremona Antiqua. The program centers on ‘Cantico delle creature’ by Pietro Dinetto, a composition inspired by the Franciscan spiritual text. The performance will also include works from the Italian Baroque period by composers such as Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Francesco Geminiani.
