Animal Adoption Campaigns Kick Off in Recife and Porto Velho, Brazil

In Recife, the Missão Resgate Animal project – a joint initiative of state deputy Romero Albuquerque and councilwoman Andreza Romero – launched a campaign to place rescued dogs and cats into permanent homes. The animals have undergone rescue, veterinary treatment, vaccination, deworming and castration. Prospective adopters must complete an interview, have their home conditions verified and receive post‑adoption monitoring.

In Porto Velho, the 4th edition of an adoption fair organized by the NGO Peludinhos was held at Porto Velho Shopping on 6‑7 June. The event featured rescued dogs and cats that received veterinary evaluation, deworming, flea‑tick treatment and vaccination before being presented to the public. The NGO’s adoption process also includes health checks and interviews to ensure suitable homes. Since its start, Peludinhos has placed 457 animals in new families, with 97 adoptions recorded in the most recent edition.
