Animal control campaign scheduled for September 7–22

A campaign to capture stray animals is scheduled to take place from September 7 to September 22. The operation aims to combat the presence of roaming dogs and cats on public roads in accordance with territorial regulations.

Authorities have advised pet owners to ensure their animals are identified via mandatory microchips and kept on leashes. For dangerous breeds, muzzles are required. Captured animals may be returned to owners upon payment of a fine and proof of identification.

While a new animal shelter and pound are promised for 2026, the local authority emphasizes that sterilization remains the most effective method for controlling animal proliferation in the interim.
