Animal cruelty crackdowns rescue a puppy in Portugal and arrest a cat‑abuser in Brazil

In Vila do Conde, Portugal, the animal‑rights group Associação ComRaça rescued a five‑month‑old puppy from severe neglect after receiving multiple neighbour complaints. The organization filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor, stating the dog was taken "from the hell it lived in" and is now receiving veterinary care before being placed with a temporary foster family. The group also appealed for donations to cover veterinary and shelter costs.

In Brazil, a 21‑year‑old man was arrested in Mesquita, Rio de Janeiro, following a six‑month digital investigation by São Paulo’s Núcleo de Observação e Análise Digital (Noad). He had posted graphic videos of cat cruelty and was found with child‑pornography material on his phone. Police seized electronic devices and other evidence. The operation highlights Noad’s role in tracking online animal‑abuse crimes and protecting victims.
