Separate incidents of animal cruelty have been reported in Peru and Colombia.
In Chiclayo, Peru, a two-year-old dog named Ayla died after being struck by a vehicle in the La Primavera urbanization. Security footage captured the hit-and-run involving a dark-colored hatchback. The owner's family is seeking justice and calling on the public to help identify the driver.
In La Estrella, Colombia, a woman was captured on security cameras abandoning a dog outside the 'El Arca' municipal animal welfare center. The animal was left tied up in direct sunlight without water, leading to severe dehydration and heatstroke. Under Colombian Law 1774 of 2016, such abandonment is a punishable offense that can result in fines or imprisonment.
