Animal cruelty reforms urged in Charleston, SC and Salinas, Mexico

Animal‑rights activists in Charleston County, South Carolina, are pressing local officials for stricter animal‑cruelty ordinances after a woman was arrested in Mount Pleasant for abuse. Activist Casey Brazil said complaints from dozens of callers lingered for months, describing the existing laws as “too general” and urging protocols for law‑enforcement response, clear standards for animal shelters, and tracking of repeat abuse reports.

In Salinas, Mexico, a social‑media post documented dogs tied to trees, starving and exposed to rain since June 20. The video shows the animals fighting and reproducing without oversight. The post calls on municipal and state authorities to intervene, noting no official response has been recorded.
