Animal Protection Austria seeks aid for sick Shih Tzu puppy
Animal Protection Austria has intervened to save Suki, an eight-week-old Shih Tzu puppy suffering from parvovirus, a highly contagious and life-threatening viral disease. The puppy is currently receiving inpatient treatment at an animal clinic in a critical condition.
The Vienna Animal Protection Association took permanent custody of Suki after her previous owners were unable or unwilling to fund the necessary medical care, which left euthanasia as a possibility. The association is now covering the extensive medical expenses, which are estimated to reach approximately 2,500 euros regardless of the treatment outcome.
Stephan Scheidl, the shelter manager in Vösendorf, stated that the organization does not want Suki’s chance of survival to fail due to costs. The association is seeking donations to support the treatment. If Suki survives, the organization intends to find her a new home.
