Regional governments expand legal and social services in Mexico and Colombia

Various regional government initiatives are providing specialized public services across Mexico and Colombia. In the State of Mexico, the ‘Caravanas Itinerantes por la Justicia Social’ program offers free legal, psychological, and social work assistance to women, focusing on family matters such as divorce, custody, and alimony, as well as support for reporting violence.

In Delicias, Chihuahua, the Judiciary and the municipal government have signed a 15-year agreement to establish a Family Coexistence Center (CECOFAM). This facility will provide a secure, professional environment for supervised visits and workshops aimed at strengthening parental responsibility and healthy upbringing for children and adolescents.

In Bogotá, Colombia, the District Institute of Animal Protection and Welfare (IDPYBA) is managing several community-focused programs. These include the ‘Vecino Buena Pata’ initiative, which recognizes community caregivers of stray animals, and the provision of free legal advice to resolve conflicts regarding pet ownership and animal welfare. Recent inspections by the institute have also addressed reports of animal mistreatment to ensure compliance with protection standards.
