Animal rescue and abuse cases reported in Brazil
In Jundiaí, São Paulo, military police officers rescued a small dog that had become trapped inside a storm drain. The rescue occurred in the Jardim Tarumã region after residents attempted to open the heavy iron cover without success. Officers used an iron bar as a lever to access the animal, which appeared physically weakened and exhausted, suggesting it had been trapped without food or water for some time.
In Goiânia, a man was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty involving a Pit Bull that had been kept chained for approximately eight months. Following an anonymous tip, authorities discovered the dog was thin, injured, and suffering from a severe tick infestation. Investigations revealed the animal lacked adequate shelter from weather conditions and relied on neighbors for survival. A veterinary medical examiner confirmed chronic neglect and old injuries. The dog has been transferred to animal welfare services for veterinary care and eventual adoption.
