Animal rescue efforts successful for dogs in Portugal and Italy

In Portugal, a dog named Giba was rescued after being found partially buried alive in a wooded area of Mafra. Following a report from a citizen, agents from the Sepna of the Portuguese National Republican Guard arrived at the scene to dig the animal out. Giba was transported to the Mafra Municipal Animal Collection Center, where he is currently receiving veterinary treatment. Local official Pedro Fernandes Tomás confirmed the dog is recovering and receiving necessary medical care while authorities investigate the circumstances of the incident.

In Italy, a 17-year-old dog named Coco was rescued by firefighters in Agazzi, Arezzo, after being trapped in a wall cavity for over 24 hours. The dog had gone missing from her home, and rescuers used mechanical tools and video inspection cameras to locate and extract her from a space beneath an external staircase. Despite being without food or water for the duration of her entrapment, Coco was returned to her family and is undergoing veterinary checks.
