Animal rescue stories highlight abandonment and adoption in US

Two separate animal rescue stories from the United States highlight the challenges faced by vulnerable pets. In South Carolina, a five-week-old puppy named Angel was found abandoned in a carrier on the street. Angel is blind and deaf from birth, weighing only approximately 820 grams at the time of her rescue. She has since been taken in by the organization Rescue Dogs Rock NYC to receive care and seek a permanent home.

In Michigan, a nine-year-old dog named Lexi was rehomed after spending 50 days at the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL). Lexi had been surrendered to a veterinary clinic because her previous owners could no longer care for her. After being welcomed by the rescue league, she was eventually adopted by a new family following a period of significant popularity among shelter volunteers.
