Animal rescue stories highlight issues of pet abandonment

Recent reports highlight the consequences of animal abandonment through two distinct cases. In one instance, an elderly poodle, estimated to be over 15 years old, was found abandoned in a cardboard box near a trash bin. Despite being rescued and treated for severe dehydration and skin disease, the dog, named Lucky, passed away after seven days of medical care.

In another case in Uberlândia, Brazil, a Shih Tzu puppy named Jasmin was discovered at a landfill being attacked by vultures. Rescuers from the organization Amparo Pet Uberlândia suspected the puppy had been discarded by an illegal breeding facility after losing its utility. Following medical treatment for various health issues, including canine ehrlichiosis, Jasmin was successfully rehabilitated and has since been adopted into a permanent home.
