Animal rescues reported in Iława and Orzysz

In separate incidents in Poland, emergency services and police intervened to rescue exotic and protected animals.

In Iława, a 1.5-meter boa constrictor was discovered near a tax office. Initially mistaken for a large viper by witnesses, the animal was identified by specialists as a two-year-old female boa constrictor. Firefighters captured the snake, which is believed to have escaped from a private collection. The animal was transferred to the Help4Herps foundation for veterinary care and was reported to be in good health despite being slightly underweight.

In the Orzysz municipality, police officers discovered an injured white-tailed eagle on a hill between Dziubiele and Suchy Róg. The protected bird was unable to fly due to a damaged wing. Officers secured the eagle and handed it over to an animal welfare worker from the Orzysz Municipal Office to ensure professional medical attention and a potential return to the wild.
