Animal rescues reported in Sassari and Montorio
In separate incidents in Italy, local authorities and veterinary services successfully rescued injured animals.
In Sassari, a wounded puppy sought refuge in a building entrance on via Baldedda. Local residents alerted the police, leading to an intervention by Aeopc zoophile guards and volunteers. The dog, which lacked a microchip, underwent surgery at the Clinica Veterinaria Schiaffino in Usini after being transferred by the municipal environment sector and the Asl veterinary service. The surgery was reported as successful.
In Montorio, a fawn was rescued after being struck by a car on via Falcona. Verona local police and Asl veterinarians sedated the animal and transported it to a veterinary facility in Castel d’Azzano. Authorities reminded drivers that they are legally obligated to stop and ensure aid is provided following accidents involving protected or domestic animals, noting significant administrative fines for non-compliance.
