Animal research ethics debated alongside Pink Ribbon campaign

As the Pink Ribbon campaign approaches in October, designed by Owe Gustafson, questions have been raised regarding the ethics of animal use in scientific research. In Sweden, the 3R-center is tasked with promoting methods to replace, reduce, and refine animal testing. However, the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) noted that the removal of earmarked funding for the center ahead of 2024 has led to reduced capacity in 3R work. Organizations such as the foundation 'Forska utan djurförsök' continue to advocate for the development and implementation of animal-free research methods.
