Animal shelters highlight challenges for overlooked rescue dogs

Animal rescue organizations are highlighting the challenges faced by overlooked dogs in shelters. In Texas, two young dogs named Tony and Tyson, found wandering a county road, spent six months at Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) due to their appearance. Tony has since been adopted by a family in Wisconsin, while Tyson is in a foster home.

In Los Angeles, a 9-year-old senior dog named Tyko is still seeking a home at the North Central Animal Shelter. Despite his energetic personality, shelter staff report that Tyko has been losing weight and recently required treatment for a respiratory infection and vomiting. Volunteers are calling for foster or adoptive homes to provide the senior dog with a stable environment.
