Animal shelters join nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative

Animal shelters in Palm Springs, California, and Waco, Texas, are participating in the nationwide ‘Clear the Shelters’ initiative to increase pet adoptions and manage high occupancy rates.

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is waiving all adoption fees this Saturday and Sunday to encourage families to adopt dogs, cats, and other pets. The event is supported by the Marco Colantonio Real Estate Group and aims to alleviate overcrowding during the summer months.

In Waco, the Pet Circle Regional Animal Center is also joining the campaign to address capacity constraints. High occupancy rates in municipal facilities create economic pressure by increasing expenditures for veterinary care, food, and maintenance. The initiative uses waived-fee structures and synchronized marketing to accelerate pet placement and reduce long-term boarding liabilities for local governments.
