Animal welfare and livestock incidents reported in Hungary
In Pilis, Hungary, a dog named Zora was rescued after being missing for six months. Animal welfare inspectors discovered the dog in a severely emaciated and dehydrated state in the backyard of a rural property. The dog's microchip allowed officials to reunite her with her original owners from Budapest. The individual holding the dog provided conflicting accounts of how the animal came into his possession. Local authorities and the municipality are initiating investigations into potential animal cruelty.
Separately, in Kelevíz, Hungary, a dog attack resulted in the death of 33 poultry birds and one three-year-old goose. The owner of the Csapó Udvar farm reported significant economic losses, estimating the total impact—including replacement costs, lost egg production, and necessary security upgrades like new fencing—to be between 1.6 and 2.9 million forints.
