Animal welfare authorities respond to injured dogs in Mexico

Animal welfare authorities in Mexico have responded to several incidents involving injured dogs in Mineral de la Reforma and Veracruz.

In Mineral de la Reforma, the Hospital con Garra rescue unit treated two dogs following separate hit-and-run incidents. One three-year-old female dog suffered a compound fracture after being struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck in the La Minerva neighborhood. A two-month-old puppy also sustained a compound fracture and infection after being run over by a private garbage truck in the Los Gemelos neighborhood. Both cases have been reported to the State Attorney General's Office and the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Crimes Against Animals (UEIDCA) to locate those responsible.

In Veracruz, municipal health and animal protection personnel treated a dog that was injured during an attack by a white pitbull in the Ortiz Rubio neighborhood. The animal was transported to the Animal Health Center at Reino Mágico Park for medical treatment and sterilization. Local authorities have advised citizens that they may file formal complaints regarding the aggression and have urged pet owners to use leashes and maintain constant supervision of their animals in public spaces.
