Animal welfare charity events and craft markets scheduled in Japan

Various charity and craft markets focused on animal welfare are scheduled to take place in Japan during August 2026.

In Akita City, the ‘Neko Fes’ charity event will be held on August 22 at the Akita City Cultural Creation Center. The event aims to support the ‘Inu/Neko Network Akita’, an organization dedicated to rescuing and protecting cats. Attendees can browse various cat-themed goods, including accessories, bags, and pouches, while participating in fundraising activities.

In Komoro, Nagano Prefecture, the ‘Handmade Nekomono Ichi + Wan’ market will take place on August 30 at the Komoro Citizen Exchange Center Stella Hall. This indoor event features handmade crafts inspired by cats and dogs, such as leather goods, ceramics, and pet portraits. The event also includes educational sessions regarding the reasons behind animal abandonment and offers various food options including curry and sandwiches.
