Regional events celebrate World Animal Day in Belgium and the Netherlands
Various regional events are being organized to mark World Animal Day in Belgium and the Netherlands.
In Merelbeke-Melle, Belgium, local authorities are hosting an event at the Kouterslag Sport and Recreation Park to promote responsible pet ownership. Activities include group walks and a service to check pet microchips to ensure registration data is up to date, which helps reunite lost animals with their owners.
In the Netherlands, Dierenhulpverlening Woerden is holding an open house at its shelter in Harmelen. The event offers a behind-the-scenes look at animal rescue operations, a creative hobby market, and demonstrations by a working dog team.
Additionally, the De Warande recreation center in the Netherlands is hosting its annual ‘Dogplons’ event, allowing dogs to swim in the outdoor pools before the season ends. The event includes designated time slots for smaller dogs to ensure safety. In Zottegem, Belgium, a collection campaign is also being organized to support local animal organizations.
