Animal welfare updates: Nutrition guidelines in Spain and rescue efforts in Argentina
In Spain, the National Association of Pet Food Manufacturers (ANFAAC) has released five recommendations to promote animal welfare in observance of World Animal Day. The association emphasizes the necessity of complete and balanced nutrition, noting that scientifically backed pet foods provide essential nutrients tailored to an animal's life stage, activity level, and health status. ANFAAC highlights the importance of consulting veterinarians for nutritional guidance and stresses that proper diet should be paired with age-appropriate physical activity to maintain cardiovascular and emotional health.
In Argentina, the rescue group Mascotandil reported a severe case of animal cruelty involving an elderly greyhound found in the La Movediza neighborhood of Tandil. The animal was discovered in critical condition, suffering from severe malnutrition, visible wounds, and a tumor. Rescuers Mariana Jara and Julieta Cesarano indicated that the dog's condition appears to be the result of long-term neglect and potential exploitation. Despite facing financial difficulties and veterinary debts, the group intervened to provide urgent medical care for the animal.
