Japanese entertainment news: New anime, film tickets, and character merchandise

Various entertainment and character-related announcements have been released in Japan, spanning anime, film, and consumer goods.

A new anime project for ‘Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo’ (KochiKame) is set to broadcast on Fuji TV in 2027. The project has unveiled its new cast, including Fukuatsu Ochiai as Ryotsu Kankichi, and staff, with Akitaro Daichi serving as director.

In the film sector, pre-sale tickets for the theatrical animation ‘Mahoutsukai no Yoru’ (Witch on the Night), produced by ufotable and based on the TYPE-MOON visual novel, are available starting September 4. Animate is offering special versions that include an acrylic keychain featuring character school uniforms.

Merchandise updates include a ‘Snoopy’ themed ‘Calm Blue Night’ series by Shachihodo featuring plush cushions and eye masks. Sega Prize is launching new Sanrio Characters goods in game centers, including large plushies and small mascots. Additionally, Disney-themed ‘Happy Kuji’ lottery items featuring characters in idol-inspired outfits will be available at Seven-Eleven and Ito-Yokado starting September 26. Shimamura is also releasing new Tamagotchi-themed accessories and mascots.
