AnimaWings files for insolvency and suspends flights
Romanian airline AnimaWings has filed for judicial restructuring and temporarily suspended all flight operations. The flight suspension is scheduled to last from October 2 through October 24.
The airline cited recurring technical issues as a primary cause for its financial difficulties, noting that aircraft unavailability placed significant pressure on its business and finances. The company's fleet includes six Airbus A220-300 and two Airbus A320 aircraft, though only the A320 models were recently available. Additional factors contributing to the crisis include a difficult economic environment, rising operating costs, increased fuel prices, and decreased purchasing power.
AnimaWings intends to resume operations on October 25 with the start of its winter flight schedule. The airline plans to implement a revised flight plan based on available aircraft, though the specific scope of the new schedule has not yet been disclosed. The restructuring process aims to reorganize liabilities and secure the company's future.
