Anime and vampire films recommended for Halloween viewing

As Halloween approaches, various media recommendations highlight anime and vampire cinema for seasonal viewing.

Anime selections include episodes from ‘Ouran High School Host Club’ and ‘Bleach’ for those seeking lighter, comedic takes on supernatural themes and costumes. For a darker atmosphere, ‘Blood: The Last Vampire’ offers a supernatural story set in 1966 Japan involving a hunter fighting humanoid vampire creatures.

In the realm of vampire cinema, historical and classic films are noted, specifically Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s 1922 masterpiece ‘Nosferatu’. Based on Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’, the film is a cornerstone of German Expressionism, following a notary's journey to Transylvania where he encounters the vampire Count Orlok.
