Anime broadcasting history on German television networks

German television history features various anime broadcasts across different networks during the late 1990s and early 2000s. While RTL Zwei was a primary destination for hits like Dragon Ball and One Piece, other channels provided alternative programming.

Kabel Eins aired the series Shaman King starting on October 30, 2004. The story follows a 13-year-old shaman named Yo who participates in a tournament held every 500 years to become the Shaman King.

MTV also played a role in broadcasting anime for more mature audiences between 2001 and 2007. Due to age ratings, many of these series aired late at night. One notable example is Golden Boy, which follows Kintaro Oe, a former law student traveling through Japan to learn through various odd jobs.
