ANINOVA-Stiftung funds winter stall for rescued turkeys at Bertha & Friends farm in Borken

The ANINOVA-Stiftung provided a €5,000 grant to the vegan animal sanctuary Bertha & Friends e.V. in Borken, North Rhine‑Westphalia, Germany. The funding enabled the construction of a new winter‑proof wooden stall that offers rescued turkeys a warm, dry and safe refuge during cold and wet months. Ada Brandt, project manager for the foundation’s vegan farm programme, said the stall reduces health stress caused by low temperatures, moisture and wind, improving the animals’ long‑term welfare. The shelter includes a solid floor, a soft‑filled interior and an adjoining fenced run. Nadine Wolsing, chair of Bertha & Friends, highlighted that the previous provisional housing was too cold for the turkeys, many of which suffer from lasting health issues due to intensive breeding, and expressed gratitude for the foundation’s support.
