Anita Mapelli and Noah Quesada win historic bronze at Junior Grand Prix
Anita Mapelli and Noah Quesada have secured the first-ever medal for a Spanish pair at the ISU Junior Grand Prix, earning bronze at the competition held in Ankara, Turkey. The duo, aged 16 and 19, achieved a total score of 154.07, marking a personal best for the pair.
Training in Bergamo, Italy, the partnership began in April 2025. Their performance included complex technical elements such as a triple split twist, a triple salchow, and a sequence of two parallel double axels. Despite a minor error during a thrown jump where Mapelli used both hands to assist the landing, the pair finished more than 14 points ahead of the fourth-place competitors.
They finished on the podium behind two neutral Russian pairs, Taisiia Guseva/Daniil Ovchinnikov (gold) and Polina Shesheleva/Egor Kanaukov (silver). The success is considered a historic milestone for Spanish figure skating, with the athletes aiming for the 2030 Olympic Games.
