Anita Nobre, mother of sambistas Dudu and Lucinha Nobre, dies at 78
Anita Nobre, mother of sambista Dudu Nobre and former flag-bearer Lucinha Nobre, passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday, August 9, in Rio de Janeiro. The cause of death was not disclosed by the family.
Anita Nobre held a significant role in the Rio de Janeiro samba scene. Alongside her husband, João Nobre, she helped organize samba circles during the 1980s, hosting prominent artists such as Beth Carvalho, Zeca Pagodinho, and Jorge Aragão. Her restaurant served as a key gathering point for musicians, providing an environment where her children grew up immersed in the genre. Dudu Nobre has noted that his mother was instrumental in his musical journey, having purchased his first cavaquinho.
The family announced that the wake and burial would take place on Tuesday, August 11, in Rio de Janeiro. Various figures from the Brazilian music community have expressed their condolences to the family.
