Anita Orbán and Marco Rubio sign bilateral agreements in Washington

Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to sign two memoranda of understanding. The first agreement focuses on energy security and the regional development of oil and natural gas infrastructure. The second agreement involves information exchange and cooperation to combat terrorism, specifically targeting far-left organizations.

During her first interview with Telex, Orbán characterized the meeting as a sign that Washington views the Tisza government as a strategic partner. She emphasized Hungary's goal of becoming a regional energy distribution and transit hub, leveraging existing storage capacities and connections with six neighboring countries.

In addition to the meeting with Rubio, Orbán met with officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the Treasury, and the Department of Energy. The discussions also covered Hungary's energy policy, relations with Russia, and regional stability in the Western Balkans and Ukraine.
