Anitta rejects R$ 500 million offer to promote betting platforms

Brazilian singer Anitta reportedly rejected a massive advertising contract worth R$ 500 million to serve as an ambassador for an online betting platform. The decision follows her public stance against the gambling industry, citing concerns over the social and economic impact of gambling addiction, particularly among low-income populations.

Anitta stated that she chose to research the implications of such a partnership before committing, concluding that the industry did not align with her values. Her refusal comes amid a broader national debate in Brazil regarding the regulation of online betting. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recently signed a provisional measure aimed at restricting betting platforms, with provisions for removing certain sites from the air by early October.
