Anjani Kumar presents diplomatic credentials in Ukraine
Anjani Kumar, a 2003-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has officially assumed his role as India’s Ambassador-designate to Ukraine. Kumar presented a copy of his ‘Letter of Credence’ to Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olexandr Mischenko at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv.
During the meeting, both parties discussed strengthening bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, inter-parliamentary ties, and humanitarian engagement. Discussions also focused on implementing agreements made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine in August 2024. Mischenko emphasized the importance of India playing a role in establishing a just and lasting peace.
In a separate diplomatic development, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The ministers discussed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and peace negotiations. Jaishankar reiterated India’s stance of advocating for dialogue and diplomacy, noting the fragility of the international situation and its impact on global food, fuel, and fertilizer security.
