ANJE seeks urgent extension for corporate criminal liability compliance

The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) has requested that the Dominican Republic Senate declare an urgent legislative process to extend the deadline for companies to adapt to a new corporate criminal liability regime.

ANJE addressed its petition to Senate President Ricardo de los Santos Polanco, seeking to modify Article 31 of Law No. 44-26. The organization warned that the current three-month adaptation period, set to expire on November 5, 2026, is insufficient for many businesses to meet the new compliance requirements.

There is particular concern regarding micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which face significant costs and procedural challenges in meeting the new standards. ANJE cautioned that if the legislative process follows an ordinary timeline, the modification might not be approved before the deadline, leaving thousands of companies at risk without the necessary conditions to comply.
