Anjos da Lata: Mato Grosso's first scrap orchestra to debut

The first scrap orchestra in the state of Mato Grosso, known as ‘Anjos da Lata’, is set to make its official debut at the Cine Teatro Cuiabá. The performance features children aged 8 to 12 from the Lenine de Campos Póvoas Municipal School in Várzea Grande.

The project integrates music, environmental education, and social inclusion by using recycled materials such as cans, buckets, PET bottles, and pipes to create musical instruments. The repertoire includes classical pieces and traditional Brazilian rhythms, such as ‘Bolero de Ravel’ and local styles like ‘Siriri’ and ‘Lambadão’.

To facilitate attendance, free transportation will be provided via buses from several neighborhoods in Várzea Grande to the theater. The event aims to demonstrate how discarded objects can be transformed into melodic instruments through months of dedicated practice.
