Ankara airport rail project awarded to Fernas-Tekfen joint venture

The General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM) has awarded the construction and electromechanical systems tender for a new rail line connecting Pursaklar and Esenboğa Airport in Ankara. The contract was granted to a joint venture between Fernas İnşaat and Tekfen İnşaat following a competitive negotiations process.

The project is designed to enhance urban mobility by significantly reducing travel times between the city center and the airport, with goals to cut current peak-hour commutes from 45 minutes to under 20 minutes. The rail line is also expected to alleviate road congestion and reduce environmental impacts by diverting passenger traffic from cars to rail.
