Ankara police target human trafficking and prostitution in dual operations

Authorities in Ankara have launched two major operations targeting human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and prostitution. The investigations, coordinated by the Ankara and Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, have resulted in dozens of detentions across the Çankaya and Etimesgut districts.

In Çankaya, the investigation focused on five entertainment venues: Şımarık, Bişkek, Söğütdalı, Art Cafe/Bar, and Sindoma. Prosecutors allege that suspects recruited foreign women with promises of legitimate employment, only to force them into providing services at customer tables. The operation identified 28 suspects, with 26 individuals detained and 15 foreign national women identified as victims.

In Etimesgut, a separate investigation targeted the use of daily rental houses for prostitution. Authorities identified 50 separate criminal acts in this area. The operation led to the detention of 18 suspects, resulting in 6 arrests and 4 individuals placed under judicial control.
